LIVE MUSICAL COMPETITION AMONGST THE INMATES OF IBARA CORRECTIONAL SERVICE ON THE TUESDAY 5TH OF JANUARY, 2020.



Music which is a form of entertainment, played it's part at the Ibara correctional service. It was the very first of it's kind in the Nigerian Prisons. The occasion brought live back to the inmates, as they danced and danced. The program was unique as a result of the musical  competition that took place among the inmates. 







  The program proper kicked off with an the National anthem,  after which an opening prayer was led by a Muslim and Christian amongst the dignitaries. Thereafter, the DC " Deputy Controller" Shuiab, commenced the program by giving thanks to God Almighty for sparing our lives to witness these musical competition. He further encouraged the contestants to put in their best into the competition and also thanked all the dignitaries cited.



  AA Awesu, the officer in charge of  the prison welfare and social activities,     explained that the the competition was birthed through cooperation. He stressed that the Ibara correctional service has over 50 students presently, and over 150 students had graduated  from the prison educational centre. Adult education centre, vocational centre, computer & desktop centre are all part of Ibara prison achievements. It was also recorded that ten students sat for NAPTEB exam. 





There is also a counselling and mentorship.  He thanked Dr Nathaniel Oyinloye for sponsoring most of it's huge projects such as; Adire & Kampala and the renovation of the Noun centre, and today sponsoring the musical competition, mention a few. Dr Nathaniel Oyinloye and other NGO also agreed to sponsor inmate  musicians to produce their song.





DIGNITARIES ON SIT ARE: DC Shuiab, AA Awesu, Dr Nathaniel Oyinloye" Founder of HPWI ( Hospital & Prison Welfare Initiative) & HPAN ( Hospital& Prison Action Network), the judges: Skillo, Diligent Adefisoye, Steven T, SOJ, and other HPWI members which are: Omolara Tinuola, Akinbowa Daramola, Turner Oluwaseun, Adeyemo Tobi, Daramola Olayinka admits others. 




  THE CONTESTANTS OF THE MUSICAL COMPETITION ARE:


Adex Wonder, Imisi Malaika, Nurudeen Olaino, Bonanza, Amos 33, Irawo Owuro, Yalaxipy, and Segun Melody. 



 Before handling of the Mic to the contestants to sing. AA Awesu informed all that Dr Oyinloye was displeased due to the fact that the females inmates were not part of the competition. 
  Hence after the eight contestants performed and four were evicted at the first round of the competition. The four that were evicted were Adex, Nurudeen, Amos 33, and Galaxy. But these four were appreciated with HPWI Purse with packages packed in it. 






   The other four contestants who made it to the second round of the musical competition were: Adebowale, Irawo, Imisi, and Segun Mello. This other round was a tough one as contestants put in their best and judges compiling and accessing. After the performance the judges were there to debate and give their verdict. The first position goes to Segun Mello with a prize of 10 thousand Naira, Imisi Malaika came second as he won 7 thousand naira, the third position was given to Adebowale with the sum of 5 thousand naira, and lastly Irawo won the fourth position with a prize of 3 thousand naira. 
  After the prizes were given out to the winners, dancing was the order of the day as they were all happy.






 The sponsor and prize giver in his speech, thanked the officers, DC Shuiab, AA Awesu, dignitaries,  members of HPWI, and all attendees for the successful part of the musical competition. He also pleaded with the female inmates to participate in the next musical competition. He also promised to make sure a musical school begins in the Ibara correctional service,  As this competition is first of it's kind, he hoped others would follow suit.
