.Embrace ‘change begins with me’ message, Akeredolu tells corps members

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State
has advised corps members to plan to be self -
reliant by keying into the Skill Acquisition and
Entrepreneurship Development programme of
the state .

The governor also charged the NYSC members
to embrace the APC’ s ‘ Change begins with me ’
message.

Akeredolu gave the advice at the closing
ceremony of the 2017 Batch ‘ A ’ Stream II
orientation programme in Ikare Akoko.

The governor , represented by the Secretary to
the State Government , Mr Ifedayo Abegunde ,
advised the corps members to acquire
appropriate skills that could make them become
self - reliant after their service year.

The governor said that corruption had been a
major challenge in the country and advised
corps members to shun it .

“ I charge you , as future leaders , to embrace the
‘ Change begins with me ’ message recently
launched by the Federal Government , ’’
Akeredolu said .

He equally charged them to take their posting
with grace and dignity as inscribed in the NYSC
posting policy .

The governor reiterated his administration ’ s
resolve to ensure the safety of lives and
properties of all residents of the state .

“ Always bear in mind that your service is
needed in every sector of the state .

“ I charge you to go into their midst, interact
with them freely and respect their tradition .

“ We just awarded the contract for the
renovation of the camp and the contractors
have been mobilised to the site .

“ We shall create an enabling and conducive
environment for the NYSC to operate in the
state .

“ We shall equally provide necessary welfare
packages for corps members while giving
priority attention to their security and safety , ’’
the governor said .

The 1 , 880 corps members were deployed to the
18 local government areas of the state .
